BikeLakeland in the News
So early into our initiative we’re made the local press. Mycah Pleasant has a short article on BikeLakeland in Saturday’s paper. He did a good job covering the basics of a group that has just started working.
The cost depends on the models that are purchased, but Welch hopes to raise about $10,000, all of which would go to the purchase, assembly and installation of the racks.
City Commissioner Don Selvage is one of the biggest supporters of BikeLakeland.
“I’ve long been a proponent for a city that is more pedestrian- and bike-friendly,” he said. “This just sets the stage.”
According to Welch, the organization wants racks to be visible, inexpensive, secure, attractive and accessible. — Mycah Pleasant
An aside, in case it wasn’t clear, the bike rack pictured isn’t the style BikeLakeland is looking to install. You’ll find a couple of examples of that “H” style in the next post.
